It's time to cut some foam!

Now that we have our patter, we need to cut out the pieces before assembly. Due to the nerve damage in my hand, is is extremely difficult for me to do this on the best of days. My hand twitches, and the specific motions needed for cutting foam cause a lot of pain in a very short time. I have some very nice shears, but these aren’t very good for cutting 10mm foam – as they cut they compress the material. As such, for all of my big projects and anything made from 10mm foam, I tend to use my laser cutter.

I know that most people don’t have access to this kind of technology and have to do it the way our cosplay ancestors did, so we need to cover the basics of cutting EVA foam for cosplay purposes. Because I have this problem, I can’t even demonstrate the techniques effectively. So, I have scoured the internet for cosplayers and makers who have made videos on this very subject. I will embed the video and provide links to their sites and youtube channel. Give these folks a follow. Their work is immaculate.
